JOB PURPOSE:

Lead and oversee the execution of legal strategies and frameworks by managing legal processes, providing expert legal counsel, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Protect the organisation’s interests through proactive risk management, contract oversight, and the delivery of sound legal advice to senior management and various departments, facilitating smooth business operations and mitigating potential legal liabilities.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

1. Legal Advisory Services

Offer guidance on a wide range of legal matters, including regulatory compliance, contractual obligations, and internal policies. Interpret relevant laws and provide actionable recommendations to senior management to support informed decisionmaking and ensure legal compliance. Direct and manage the legal framework and governance of the organisation by ensuring full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies to safeguard HRD Corp’s statutory functions and operational integrity. 

 

2. Legal Agreement Structuring and Validation 

Oversee the preparation of legal documents by coordinating with relevant departments, ensuring contracts and agreements reflect business terms and comply with legal requirements, minimising organisational risks.

Lead the evaluation of contracts for compliance by reviewing terms and recommending revisions, ensuring the protection of the organisation’s legal interests while balancing business needs. 

 

3. Contractual Oversight and Review 

Manage the timely review and approval of legal documents by supervising the entire contract lifecycle through efficient processes for contract management, guaranteeing that all documents align with organisational policies and legal standards.

Review and verify the terms and conditions of contracts and agreements, and communicate necessary revisions to relevant departments to maintain document accuracy and confirm that all contractual obligations are met. 

 

4. Policy & Framework

Lead and coordinate initiatives related to the legal policy, frameworks and related legal instruments, including stakeholder engagement with regulators and external legal experts, to ensure it remains responsive and relevant to industry and organisational needs. 

 

5. Legal Risk Mitigation

Lead the identification and evaluation of potential legal risks by conducting detailed legal research, analysis of statutory changes, and assessment of case law trends to inform proactive strategies and compliance planning across business units.

 

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Certification of Legal Practice (CLP) or any related fields.

• A Master’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field is an added advantage. 

 

Relevant Experience (skills & knowledge)

• 10-12 years of working experiences in legal firms with exposure to various fields of law i.e., Contracts Law, Companies Law, Land Law, Commercial Law & Public Law.

• 3–5 years of experience in a managerial or advisory role would be an added advantage.

• Proven track record in providing legal counsel within a statutory body, government linked company (GLC), regulatory agency, or corporate legal environment. 

• Strong experience in contract management, legal advisory, regulatory compliance, and legislative processes.

• Demonstrated ability to lead legal teams and manage external counsel effectively.
